There’s been a recorded increase of 35% in the postal/courier shipment per kilograms imported into the country in 2024.
Speaking to the media this morning, the CEO of Postal Regulator said in 2024, his office recorded nearly 682, 000 kg of shipment that were shipped to Seychelles via the postal or courier services.
He explained that some shipment may contained several packages, which means the number of packages is even higher.
He explained that individuals and businesses alike are importing their goods via courier.
With the substantial increase in postal/courier shipment entering the country, plans are in the final phase to construct a new and modern mail processing warehouse to cater for the high demand.
The new warehouse which will be based near the cargo terminal is expected to be operational by 2026.
National Address System
Work on the National Address System is well underway.
Beau Vallon is the first district where the exercise is being conducted in order to provide all buildings, be it residential, commercial or government a digital address.
Once the exercise is completed by next year for all of Mahe, Praslin and La Digue, Seychelles will become the first country in Africa where the Digital address system covers the entire country.
