The National Development Strategy 2024-2028 is launched

The National Development Strategy for the next five years (2024-2028) was officially launched in a ceremony hosted at State House on 5th April, 2024.

In his statement for the occasion the President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan urged the collective participation of all Seychellois to make the strategy a reality.

“This strategy is the culmination of months of dedication, collaboration and tireless vision. It is a testament to our collective commitment to shape a future of progress, prosperity and opportunity for all.”

The NDS 2024-2028 is anchored on six priority areas: a modern public service, a transformative economic agenda, an effective health nation, an education system that meets the needs of the future, the promotion of law and order, and environmental sustainability and resilience to climate change.

The focus is to ensure the six pillars shape the socio-economic development and landscape of our country.

The President described the strategy as a ‘document that serves as a commitment to generational accountability and the realization that the world we live in is evolving rapidly’.

He has urged all partners and stakeholders to be involved in the implementation of the new strategy.

“I urge each and every one of you to reflect on your role and responsibility as a citizen of our beautiful country, given your action of today will determine its future and that of the future generation. Together, as one, we should and can elevate Seychelles to the next stage of its development.”

The document was prepared and formulated by the National Planning Division of the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade.
In his speech, Minister Naadir Hassan expressed his sincere gratitude to the staff of the Department, noting that it had taken three years to finalize the document, involving a great deal of discussion, consultation and research.

“The NDS 2024-2028 represents a visionary and comprehensive blueprint designed to propel the nation toward sustainable and inclusive development, as stipulated under Vision 2033.”

Minister Hassan also reiterated the call of the President of the Republic for collective participation if the strategy is to be achieved.

“Seychelles aims to transform this strategic document into a reality, seeking not only effectiveness in its realisation but also drawing together the fundamental principles of inclusivity and sustainability.”

The NDS 2024-2028 will serve as a model for the next phase of the country’s development.
