The Minister for Finance, National Planning and Trade, Naadir Hassan, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, on Thursday 28th July, at Liberty House.
The Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques, also attended the meeting.
Discussions focused on the debt-for-nature swap initiative, an initiative which Seychelles successfully negotiated in 2016; the need to establish regional air and maritime connectivity, and enhancing trade transactions, between the islands of the Indian Ocean.
The Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade’s delegation, included the Secretary of State in the ministry, Patrick Payet, the Chairperson of the Seychelles Trading Company, Imtiaz Umarji, and the Executive Director in the Office of Minister Hassan, Cillia Mangroo.
