Former PS for Trade joins AfDB

Former Principal Secretary for Trade is appointed Senior Advisor for the AfDB’s Eastern Africa Constituency

The Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade, has announced the departure of Mr. Ronald Cafrine, who until recently, was the Principal Secretary for Trade. Mr. Cafrine was appointed to the position in March, 2022.

Mr. Cafrine has taken up a three-year mandate as the Senior Advisor for the Eastern Africa Constituency at the African Development Bank, (AfDB).

His appointment in this new position took effect on 1st August, 2022, and he will be based in Ivory Coast.

Minister Naadir Hassan has wished Mr. Cafrine ‘the best of luck in his new position.’

“Every opportunity that a Seychellois has to further his/her career internationally, will be welcomed and embraced by the government. Your appointment is also an advantage for Seychelles, as we know, we have a strong voice at the AfDB. On behalf of the government, I wish you the best of luck.”

Seychelles is among nine African countries forming the Eastern Africa Constituency of the AfDB, which is headed by Executive Director, Jonathan Nzayikorera, from Rwanda.
