Review of Customs Management (Tariff and Classification of Goods) Regulations

Monday 15th January 2018, VICTORIA, SEYCHELLES: In line with the migration process from version 2007 to version 2017 of the World Customs Organisation Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System, the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Economic Planning has reviewed its national goods classification regulations so as to be in line with international norms.

The Customs Management (Tariff and Classification of Goods) Regulations, 2014 will be replaced with the new Customs Management (Tariff and Classification of Goods) Regulations, 2018 and is expected to come into force as of the 1st March, 2018; thus bringing the national regulations up to date with the most recent international standards.

 A series of workshops will be held to familiarise the stakeholders with the changes and the new HS codes, the first of which will be held at the Tender Board Biding Room, 1st Floor Maison de Mahé on the 17th and 18th of January 2018, from 1330hrs to 1530hrs, for Customs Agents and DTI Users.

 Additional workshops will also be held for the general public; and will be announced at a later date.
