Excised Tax

Monday 6th February 2017, VICTORIA, SEYCHELLES: In line with the budget 2017 announcement pertaining to the increase in Excise tax on petroleum products, alcoholic products (below 16% alcoholic volume) and tobacco, the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Economic Planning would like to inform the general public that the gazetting of the Regulations will take place on the 28th April of 2017.

An effective date of the 15th of May 2017, has been set for the following changes:

  1. An Excise Tax of 50 cents per litre has been imposed on petroleum products. It is however to be noted that existing concessions will remain applicable.
  2. A 10% increase in Excise tax on all alcoholic products with an alcohol content of less than 16 percent.
  3. A 10 percent increase in Excise Tax on tobacco products.
