Consultative meeting with public, partners, stakeholders to kick start funding of Small Medium Enterprise Scheme

A consultative meeting with partners, stakeholders and members of the public on the Startup grant scheme (SME) will be conducted by the Ministry of Finance, Trade & Economic Planning in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation is being proposed on Friday 28th April 2017.
The consultative meeting will take place at the ICSS, Room 2, from 9.30 a.m to 12 noon.
The Start-Up Grant-Scheme will provide seed capital of up to SCR 50,000 to fund small start-up businesses to assist them in their early stages of development.
The aim of the consultative meeting is to gather as much information and contribution as possible on the scheme from all concerned parties and encourage the idea of collaboration and networking in the eventual launching and implementation of the scheme.
Objectives
- To present and provide general information on the SME Startup Grant Scheme so as to better develop the scheme.
- To establish & promote dialogue between the parties.
- To promote the exchange of views and encourage the public, partners and stakeholders to provide input: (expectations etc..)
In his budget address, Minister for Finance, Trade and Economic Planning, Dr. Peter Larose, said that the government is committed to give priority attention to the small and medium enterprise sector to ensure that it thrives and contributes towards the poverty reduction agenda of the country.
According to Dr. Larose, there is a series of measures to help SMEs exploit their full potentials and penetrate a new business frontier, and one of them is the start-up capital or seed money to be backed by Government guarantees.
Minister Peter Larose, Minister Cosgrow and other senior officers from the government, organisations and entities will be present.
