New milestone in Policy & Strategy Division for import and export permit for individuals
June 09, 2016
The Import and Export Section of the Policy and Strategy Division has launched an E-Service facility for import and export permit for individuals. This service allows importers and exporters to apply for permits online.
The e-service for import and export permit for individuals will ensure faster procedures and positively enhance overall competitiveness for trade, investment and the ease of doing business. It has been initiated to effectively and efficiently facilitate opportunities for both businesses and individuals.
The e-service for import and export permit for individuals is the second phase of this initiative; the first phase kicked started in 2012 for businesses only and since then has been doing well. With the new e-service, individuals can now access the import and export permits on line and can receive feedback in a day or two maximum.
Since phase one of the system has been set up, and now with the setting up of the second phase, there has been a reduction in the number of customers coming to the Import and Export Sectionoffice for permits. The office which usually opens during lunch hour will no longer remain open as from Wednesday 15th June 2016.
The Ministry of Finance, Trade & the Blue Economy continues to fulfill its core responsibility to assist in trade, business and investment opportunities through innovative means. The new e-service for individuals is one such initiative that is further enhancing the environment for individuals to access the necessary services in as little time as possible.
