Capacity building in public private partnership (ppp) for some 50 government officials as part of the government programme of developing ppp in the country

As part of the Government programme of developing Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the country, the Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy is organizing a workshop from Wednesday the 16th to 18th March 2016, Eden Bleu, from 8 .00 am 4.30pm for Public Sector Officials to build their understanding on the concept of PPP.

Participants will be able to learn about key features and models of PPP, effectively manage PPP contracts, understand and be able to identify risks associated with PPP transactions and how to manage and allocate them and understand the difference between PPP as opposed to traditional procurement among other things.

The workshop is being financed by the Investment Climate for Africa (ICF) and is part of the project for the development of a national legal, regulatory and operational framework being supported by ICF and the African Development Bank (AFDB).

The first component of the project, the development of a PPP policy have completed and approved by cabinet. The next phase of the project is the development of a regulatory and operational framework and ongoing capacity building in specific sectors, change management, PPP promotions and communications.

The main aim of the overall project is to stimulate private sector development and to support government capacity to leverage resources for infrastructure development and public service delivery.
