Press Communique

Friday 5th April 2019: The Department of Finance has clarified that the remuneration of certain unspecified public officers referred to in a statement by a Member of the National Assembly in its proceedings of 4th April 2019, concerned mainly the salaries of expatriate specialist senior police personnel.

There was also a case of a one-off exit payment, made to a retiring Seychellois CEO, which was recorded as a “periodic allowance”; this was the payment of outstanding leave, and certainly not the CEO’s normal monthly salary or allowance.

Government is committed to maintaining a system of fair remuneration in the public service, and ensuring that the payment of salaries and allowances adhere to its approved framework.
