Minister Jean Paul Adam gets first-hand overview of the operations of the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (SEYPEC) through first familiarisation visit

SEYPEC management and staff welcomed the Minister for Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy, Mr Jean Paul Adam and the Principal Secretary for Finance, Mr Patrick Payet for an official visit to the Head Office and Depot of SEYPEC at the New Port conducted on Friday 19th June 2015.

The visit is one of the initiatives for the Minister to be informed and have first-hand overview of the operations of public enterprises reporting to the Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy.

SEYPEC is one of the companies that fall into this category.

On this first visit, the Minister was also accompanied by the Principal Secretary for Finance, Mr Patrick Payet.

The Management and staff of the company led by the Chief Execution Officer of SEYPEC, Mr Conrad Benoiton, welcomed the Minister and his delegation and were given a briefing on the operations of SEYPEC. The delegation also visited the offices and the New Port Depot facilities to see important operational aspects of the SEYPEC depot such as storage capacity, workshops, safety equipment and procedures as well as an opportunity to interact with the staff in their working environment.

During his visit, Minister Adam was presented with a token of appreciation by long serving staff Antonio Laporte on behalf of the staff of SEYPEC.

SEYPEC, established in 1985, with a workforce of almost 200 staff is playing a key role in supporting the country’s economy and development.

Its operations revolve around the supplying of fuel to the domestic market, bunkering of vessels, aviation refuelling activities and the management of its shipping arm.One of its main roles is providing and distributing of petroleum products such as Motor Gasoline, (leaded and unleaded), Gasoil (diesel), fuel oil, Jet A-1, Aviation Gasoline (AVGAS), Lubricants and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). The visit will help to streamline collaboration and operational procedures between the Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy and SEYPEC to further facilitate the economic development of the country.
