Visioning Exercise started this morning with six Sectors

Vision for Seychelles' Development; Socoeity we live in and the Society we want.
The first group of participants for the Visioning exercise met this morning to discuss and come up with ideas for the formulation of strategies for Vision 2032. This was at the International Conference Centre, ICCS, and was attended by participants from the Energy, Social, Health, Education, private and Financial sectors, respectively.
And it was being led by the Principal Secretary for Economic Planning, Mrs. Elizabeth Agathine and other officers from the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Economic Planning. Each sector was being facilitated by a facilitator; Mrs. Marie-Pierre Lloyd was responsible for the Social Sector, Mr. Norman Webber, for the Financial Sector, Mr. Andrew Jean- Louis, for the Energy Sector, Mrs. Merida Delcy and Mr. Selby Dora were faciliated the Education Sector, and Mrs Peggy Vidot for the Health Sector.
After the exercise, facilitators and participants will come up with not more than three (3) sector strategies for Vision 2032. The logo to be used for the visioning is: "Seselwa en Sel Desten", was revealed to the participants this morning. It depicts a sense of ownership and identity of the Seychellois people in the drafting and formulation of the visioning and eventual National Development Strategies, NDS. It also depicts contributions by the people, to this process by sharing their desired positive, hopeful and realizable dreams, views and concerns on all key aspects of the country. Building on the idea of a shared vision and destiny for the country: Seselwa En Sel Desten”.The need and importance for each and every one of us to feel part and contribute to what we feel and believe we want Seychelles to be a few years down the line.
It was pointed out that it is important to develop a vision for Seychelles, and translate it into an achievable program. The Vision is to provide the people with a sense of direction and discovery. The Vision will be the framework for Seychelles’ development presenting the key priorities and providing the guiding tool for the future. The visioning process will help dentify the priority pillars and cross-cutting areas, the development of which will be crucial for making the necessary long term transformations in Seychelles happen.
In the drafting of the Vision 2032 and the National Development Plan, global committments are being considered as well, namely the´Addis Ababa Action Agenda (Financing for Development)-2030 ´Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-2030 ´Paris Declaration on Climate Change (2030) ´African Union Agenda 2063.
The Government of Seychelles has embarked on an initiative to establish the Vision 2032 and the National Development Strategy 2018-2022; a framework for Sustainable National Development, (NDS). The Department of Economic Planning in the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Economic Planning has been given the responsibility and mandate to coordinate the process of the Visioning Exercise for Vision 2032, inclusive of a stakeholders’ analysis, mapping of sustainable development processes and strategies in Seychelles.
The Economic Department is calling on members of the public, partners and stakeholders to participate in the exercises and contribute as much as possible in the drafting and implementation of the Vision 2032. And to ensure that every one can contribute a dedicated email address and a Face book page have been set up for this sole purpose.

The visioning exercise will continue tomorrow whereby participants will discuss on the broad vision statements, outline the strategic direction and identify actions for the common vision statements and final vision statements for the sectors with strategic direction, actions and objectives.
