Ministry issues Scam Alert

The Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade is apprising members of the public to disregard a scheme being circulated on social media platforms, advertising a Business Grant.
This scheme is a scam and a fraud and does NOT emanate from the Ministry.
The Ministry is also aware there is an approval letter for the fake Business Grant being issued to ‘successful applicants’ which is allegedly signed by Minister Naadir Hassan. Accordingly, the Ministry is reminding members of the public that Mr. Hassan is no longer the Minister for Finance, National Planning and Trade, given he resigned from the Government on 31st January, 2025.
The Ministry is urging members of the public not to engage with such scams, which are designed to defraud individuals of their hard earned money.
The Ministry is also cautioning members of the public to be on alert of fake social media accounts being created under the name of the ministry, and advising them not to engage with such. If there is any doubt on the authentication of an account, contact the Ministry on telephone number: 4382005.
