Appropriation Bill, 2025 is approved
November 28, 2024
The National Assembly has approved the Appropriation Bill, 2025.
In a vote taken this afternoon for the Third Reading of the bill, 23 members voted in favour, while 10 abstained.
In a message expressing his appreciation for the approval of the bill, Minister Naadir Hassan said 'at the ministry we commend the work that the Members of the National Assembly does in scrutinising the budget, through the month long session, where MDAs (Ministries, Departments and Agencies) have to defend their appropriated budget.”
“This process is a clear example of how transparent the process has become, where MDAs have to defend their appropriated budget. MNAs can uphold one of their major roles of scrutinising the budget and also it allows members of the public to know how monies allocated are being spent and what revenue the government is collecting on their behalf.”
Furthermore, Minister Hassan has thanked all partners who have participated and contributed towards the formalisation of the 2025 Budget.
“Every year, during this process, the ministry works with all MDAs, private sector and civil society to ensure inclusivity of the budget preparation. We also work with our international development partners ensuring that all our set fiscal targets are met.”
Minister Hassan also had words of gratitude for staff of the ministry.
“The budget process is one which is long and challenging. The behind the scene work is one which is demanding, arduous, with many discussions, and long hours. For your efforts, and professionalism, on my personal behalf and that of the government, I extend a heartfelt thank you.”
Minister Naadir Hassan delivered the 2025 Budget Speech before the National Assembly on Thursday 21st October.
The Appropriated Budget for the year 2025 is SR 11,901,621,045.
