June 20, 2024

A total of 1,222 beneficiaries of the La Misere Water Pollution have been paid the second and final portion of their compensation. The first batch of payment was processed on 19th June.

A total sum of R26,892, 500.00 has been paid, via bank transfer.

The Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade is urging the remaining beneficiaries who have yet to come forward and update their information, to do so, at the earliest, to enable payment.

Updating of information can still be effected either in person at the Ministry’s headquarters, Liberty House, or via email on: compensation@finance.gov.sc.

To also facilitate the updating of information exercise, officials from the Ministry will be at the La Misere Primary School, on Thursday 27th June, between 1pm and 6pm.

The Ministry asserts the second batch of payment will only be processed after the remaining beneficiaries have come forward to update their information.

The second batch of payment is now scheduled for mid-July.

To note, this specific payment of compensation for the La Misere Water Pollution is strictly for beneficiaries who had received a first portion of their payment in 2020.
