2024 Budget Speech is delivered

Minister Naadir Hassan has delivered the 2024 Budget Speech before the National Assembly, this morning.
Some of the major announcements are as follows:
Increase in 7 Statutory Benefits and the addition of a new benefit
Revision in 3 schemes of service - HR/ICT and Administration
Increase in stipend for students of Inner Islands studying on Mahe
Students from Praslin and La Digue studying for their A levels will in 2024 study at the Vijay International School on Praslin
Extension of Laptop scheme to include Primary 5 and 6 students
Revision of taxes on bonuses and performance salary
Revision of taxes on 'match it' voluntary pension contribution for employees by employers, among many other tax breaks, targeting businesses in priority areas as identified by the government; high tech farming, aquaculture and fish processing, and digital economy.
The 2024 budget is focusing on investments in the community, infrastructure, especially sports facilities, road network and social housing, facilitating the business environment, social programmes, environment, renewable energy and climate change.
