Government Temporary Measures to support lower income earners - More than 17,000 payments have been effected

A total of 17,123 payments have been effected  this month under the Temporary Government measures to support the lower income earners.

For private sector employees, as well as for all those who were seeking the additional electricity support of R300, payment has been effected for the first time.

This first time payment, means that the above individuals have received a back pay for the month of July, on top of their August payment.

Provisionally, 15,928 individuals have received payment for the salary support, whereas 521 have received payment for the additional electricity support.

Provisional statistics show that a total of R7,680,510, has been paid for the month of August.

Payment under the programme, was made during the last three days of the month of August.

A consolidated payroll, consisting of all employees and beneficiaries from ASP, who qualified under the programme, is being used as of August.

Giving an update to journalists, this morning, the Director General for National Planning, Mr. Lenny Palit, explained that there are some omissions, which will be rectified by 05^th of September.

Individuals who are yet to receive payment, are being asked to direct their queries to the Hotline 190 or 2606368.
