New re-designed Trade Portal is launched

June 10, 2022

The Trade Department, within the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade has launched its newly re-designed Seychelles Trade Portal, in a ceremony, held on Friday 10th June.

The re-designed Seychelles Trade Portal was funded by the European Union Commission through the 11th EDF EPA Programme.

The Trade Portal is an online one-stop-shop which maps out all import and export procedures and fees.

The Principal Secretary of Trade, Mr. Ronald Cafrine said, the launching of the new portal ‘signifies a key milestone for the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade, (in line to increasing access to information, making it easy and less costly), but more so, for the business community, in that it adds another step in improving predictability and clarity, for better trade related decisions.

“The Trade Portal functions as the most comprehensive online platform for domestic business community and would be entrepreneurs. It is expected to provide domestic and foreign businesses, quick access to Seychelles trading regulations and procedures. It would improve transparency, remove bureaucracy and increase the doing-business-environment.”

The Trade Portal is hosted by the Trade Division and is expected to improve accessibility, transparency, and predictability of trading procedures, thus providing domestic and foreign investors quick access to this repository of the Seychelles trading regulations and procedures.

The launch of the Trade Portal affirms the Government of Seychelles’ commitment to facilitating trade by making related information more accessible and transparent.

Through the portal, traders and the business community will have access to information on all regulatory requirements that they need to comply with, to conduct their transactions.

Technical expertise for the redesign of the Trade portal was provided by two senior international Trade and IT consultants. The experts consulted widely with the business community in Seychelles as well as key government agencies during the re-design phase.

The duo also worked closely with the Trade Division, under the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade and the EPA Project Technical Assistance Team to successfully develop a re-designed and revamped Trade Portal for Seychelles.

PS Cafrine has urged members of the public to access the new re-designed trade portal.

“The Trade Division would soon be rolling out an awareness campaign to that effect. We believe that, the larger the number of people that get to know of the existence and potentials of the portal, that would generate increased interests and eventually increase its usage. I would like to also encourage each and every one of you to also visit the Trade Portal in your free time. I can guarantee you that it would be worth your while.”
