FTC Bill is gazetted

April 13, 2022

The Fair Trading Bill has been gazetted and is due to go before the National Assembly.

The object of this Bill is to ‘consolidate, review and revise the law relating to fair trading, competition and consumer protection in order to align it and harmonise it with international best practices’.

The Fair Trading Bill is a consolidation of the Fair Trading Commission Act, the Fair Competition Act and the Consumer Protection Act, and thus it seeks to repeal the three acts.

The Fair Trading Commission will be the custodian of the law, once it is approved.

The Bill also makes provision for the establishment of the Fair Trading Tribunal.

The Bill is available on www.gazette.sc or click on the below.
