'The 2022 Budget is the continuation of the 2021 Budget', says Minister Hassan

Minister Naadir Hassan has outlined the Government's Budget plan for 2022, in his speech, delivered on Friday 12th November 2021, in the National Assembly.

Meeting with the media, afterwards, Minister Hassan said the 2022 budget is the continuation of the 2021 budget.

"In the first year, our primary objective was to stabilise the economy and in general we have achieved this target, and now we are on the long road to recovery."

Next year, focus will be reforming the public sector and transforming the economy.

"The economy needs to grow and that is why we have given more oxygen to the private sector. It's only when the economy grows that we can accumulate wealth, create employment and opportunities."

Minister Hassan has thanked all Seychellois who have understood and heeded the appeal to work to save our country.

"Your sacrifices will not be in vain."

He has also, appealed for stability, saying 'instability will only destroyed our country and all of us."

A total sum of R R10,091,651.146 is being appropriated for next year.

The National Assembly will reconvene on Tuesday 16th November, for members to give their response to the budget speech.
