October 15, 2021

The Minister for Finance, Economic Planning and Trade, Naadir Hassan, met with the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, H.E Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, on Thursday 14th October.

The bilateral meeting was held on the sideline of the sixth Global Business Forum on Africa, held in Dubai, between 13th and 14th October 2021.

“Our discussion centered around potential areas of collaboration between Seychelles and the UAE, especially in terms of investments, such as in the sectors of energy, hospitality and blue economy.”

The Global Business Forum on Africa, held against the backdrop of the world economy being ravaged by the COVID 19 pandemic, brought together business leaders and high-level policy makers, from both the public and private sector to discuss opportunities and areas of collaboration between the two regions.

Participants discussed the importance to adapt and identify new areas of economic development, such as; what is the role of innovation, collaboration and, above all, trade in enabling different solutions, and that is why the forum was held under the theme ‘transformation through trade.’

“We have all learn a valuable lesson from the pandemic and that is we need to diversify and transform our economy. The whole world is heading in that direction and so is Seychelles. We are currently laying the foundation to diversify and transform our economy, in order to become more resilient.”

The Global Business Forum on Africa is organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
