Debate on Supplementary Estimates is postponed

The Debate on the motion for a Supplementary Estimate for the year 2021 has been postponed.
The motion is on this week’s Order Paper.
However, the National Assembly has cancelled today’s session, when the motion was due to be presented by the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, Honourable Bernard Georges.
The Government is asking for a Supplementary Estimates of SR303,911,788.83 for the year 2021.
The sum, comes from a total budget cut of R1.4 billion, which the government has been able to save for the year.
To note, last week, the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning and Trade, Naadir Hassan, presented the 2021 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook, where the budget reduction was made public.
Out of the total budget cut of R1.4 billion, the sum of more than SR303 million will be re-appropriated, while the remaining SR1.2 billion will be cut.
The tabling of the Supplementary Estimates for the year 2021 is in accordance with Article 154(6) of the Constitution.
