FTC presents its 2020 Annual Report to Minister Hassan

The CEO of the Fair Trading Commission, Mr. Francis Lebon has presented the Commission’s 2020 Annual Report to the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning and Trade, Mr. Naadir Hassan, this morning.

Minister Hassan has thanked Mr. Lebon and all the staff of FTC for their hard work and has urged them to continue to deliver on their mandate.

Following the presentation of the report, detailing the performance of FTC for the year 2020, the media interviewed Mr. Lebon.

Mr. Lebon has explained that during the year 2020, faced with the COVID 19 pandemic, FTC had to reorganize its staff to ensure maximum efficacy.

“Faced with the pandemic, we have had to redeploy our staff in order to continue with our work, which has enabled us to work more smartly.”

FTC’s core functions is to protect consumers and promote competition.

“I want to urge all stakeholders to work together, to improve the landscape of consumer protection and business competitiveness in the country. I want to assure consumers that FTC is working really hard in the background for their benefit.”
