Media houses to learn more about anti-money laundering in sensitisation session

January 16, 2020

A first awareness session on the approved Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Bill, 2019 and the Beneficial Ownership Bill, 2019, with media houses, Association of Media Practitioners, Communicators/Public Relations personnel and the Media Commission will take place on Friday 17th January 2020, from 1.30 p.m to 4.00 p.m, at the Central Bank Meeting Room.

This is being organized by the National Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Committee, with the aim to provide participants with a broader understanding of the need to have these two pieces of legislations, the content of the draft bills and the timeline for their enactment and implementation.

The session will also aim to build awareness of the ongoing review of various legislations and efforts to improve the Seychelles’ Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) framework, to address deficiencies highlighted in the National Risk Assessment (NRA) and the second Mutual Evaluation Report (MER).
