Chinese delegation from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and Seychelles signs MOU on Customs Cooperation.

Minister Mr. NI Yuefeng, and the Minister for Finance will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday 12th November, at 2.00p.m Liberty House.

The MOU deals with cooperation between the two parties and makes provisions for assistance investigations relating to Customs offences and provisions of technical assistance amongst others.

The Memorandum of Understanding aims to:

  • Establish and develop friendly, cooperative relations and mutual assistance between the two sides and to promote and facilitate bilateral trade between the two countries.
  • Provide cooperation to combat offences against Customs legislations that are prejudicial to the economic, social, commercial, cultural and fiscal interests of the two countries.
  • Assist in areas of investigation on alleged Customs offences.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to the Seychelles Customs administration.

This is an important step for the Ministry and Customs division as it will assist in obtaining information on cases suspected of infringing Customs legislation in a timely manner, by having a direct channel of communication.

Also attending the signing from the Seychelles side are, Ms. Cillia MANGROO, Principal Secretary for Trade, Ms. Veronique HERMINIE, Commissioner General of the Seychelles Revenue Commission, Ms. Lindy ERNESTA,Director General for Foreign Policy, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Rebecca JULIENNE,Third Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs. And from the Chinese Embassy, H.E. Mrs GUO Wei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. HE Fang, Chief of Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Ms. ZHONG Xiahui,Attaché of Economic and Counsellor’s Office.
