MOF staff completes three-year diploma in Public Finance Management

Another batch of five (5) staff from the Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning has recently completed their Diploma in Public Finance Management Course at the Guy Morel Institute.

The three-year course is done by the Ministry in collaboration with the Guy Morel Institute, and the participants had to attend the course twice a week for a half-day. They joined the eight (8) others who qualified last year, making thirteen (13) staff in all with Diploma in Public Finance Management, in the Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning.

The Comptroller General on her part, Irene Croisee noted that twenty-two (22) more staff are expected to follow the same course next year.

And in a short ceremony at the Ministry’s Headquarters, at Liberty House, Minister Maurice Loustau-Lalanne congratulated the staff and urged them to continue using these opportunities for their betterment and that of the Ministry. “You have done a great thing; you have made the extra effort to learn something new”, says Minister Lalanne. He said that Public Finance Management is very important.

Whilst one of the staff, remarked that it has not been easy, especially when some of them had to be rotated; she said that this disrupts and causes emotional stress, especially if one had to submit assignments.

 And to conclude, Minister Lalanne noted that there is a need to continue to work on promoting Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance and if need be readjust whenever necessary. He reiterated that we each have to do our part and including all Ministries, Departments and Agencies.  

 Each staff was presented with a bouquet of flowers from Minister Lalanne. Also present for the short ceremony was the Special Advisor to the Minister, Sitna Cesar.
