Reduction of Customs Duty on Clothing

Customs Duty (Trades Tax) on all clothing has been reduced to 0%. This is in line with the announcement made in the State of the Nation Address by President Danny Faure.
The revision of Customs Duty on clothing has been done as part of the Government’s efforts to reduce the cost of living and the new rates of customs duty became effective as of the 1st July, 2018.
The Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning would also like to reiterate that the reduction applies to Customs Duty only; the Value Added Tax remains applicable at the rate of 15%.
