Alert to general public on increase in online scams and frauds

The general public are being encouraged to be very alert whilst using the internet, and facebook. This is because has been an increase in the number of online scams and frauds on these mediums during the past two years.

This according to the Financial Investigation Unit, FIU. The FIU says that some of these scams also involves the loss of thousands of Seychelles Rupees by individuals.

The Compliance Director of FIU, Philip Moustache, will be giving an interview to provide details on the situation at the Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning, Liberty House on Monday 21st May 2018, at 10.00a.m.

According to Director, Philip Moustache, there is a need to address this issues as soon as possible. All relevant partners, including the media are encouraged to help sensitise the population, especially internet, face book users on the dangers of this not using this medium properly.
