| Tax Law Professor Gives Presentation on International Taxation in Relation to Tax Reform |

On Friday 24th July, at 4.30 p.m, in the Seychelles Trading Company's Conference Room, Government officials, members from the private sector and members of the public will have an opportunity to meet with renowned Taxation Law Professor, Prof. Lee Burns. He will give a presentation on international taxation and how this relates to the Seychelles Program.
“Globalisation has changed the way that tax systems are designed,” states the Professor “the talk will cover the impact on tax design, of greater mobility of capital, tax competition, the rise of e-commerce, greater financial innovation, cross-border tax arbitrage and the dramatic increase in intra-firm transactions and trade in services.” Professor Burns is the Dean of the Law Faculty at Sydney University and an expert on taxation in small island economies. He has undertaken extensive project work drafting tax laws in over 20 developing countries, including Mauritius, Pakistan, Uganda, Rwanda and Lesotho. Professor Burns is part of the IMF Technical Assistance Program and he is currently in Seychelles assisting with the design and drafting of our new tax laws. |
