Training on Public Procurement Administration
A training workshop on public procurement administration will be held next week from Monday to Friday for public sector officials. The training will give procurement professionals, project officers, and administrators who also perform procurement/purchasing functions - knowledge of the multiple and cross-cutting principles in procurement practice and the ability to recognize the positive and negative aspects of the procurement actions taken.

The procurement professionals will also learn international and COMESA best practices with regards to the procurement process.

“Since the procurement Law was enacted in December last year, there has been a necessity to train government officials so that their practices are in line and comply with legal procedures which are in place,” says director for procurement oversight, Ms. Marie-Nella Nancy. This unit at the Ministry of Finance is mandated to provide training to all stakeholders in order to achieve an efficient procurement system.

“The trainees in the workshop will gain practical knowledge regarding the procurement process for application in their daily duties through the discussion of case studies and sharing of experiences,” she adds, “In turn we expect them to pass on their knowledge and experiences gained in the training workshop to their colleagues at lower levels upon return to their various institutions.”

This workshop is being organized in collaboration with COMESA, the International Law Institute and in association with National Tender Board.
