The Investigation Unit

The Investigation unit reports to the Policy and Strategy Division located at the head quarters of the Ministry of Finances.  Its functions are as follows:

1. Policing the concessions given under the following: 

  • The Trades Tax Regulations (in liaison with the Seychelles Revenue Commission)
  • The Tourism Incentive Act (in liaison with the Seychelles Investment Bureau, Seychelles Tourism Board, Seychelles Revenue Commission and Customs)
  • The Investment Promotion Act
  • The Stamp Duty Act and

 

2. Investigating the various privileges obtained from legislations/regulations under the custodian of the Ministry of Finance, and makes necessary changes;

 
3. Maintaining a database of all the concessions;
 
4. Granting waivers for Trades Tax on motor vehicles where applicable (under Trades Tax concessions) before transfers are made;
 
5. Formulating investment and other commercial policy frameworks;
 
6. Undertaking site visits to assess FDI projects under construction;
 
7. Auditing claims for refund of Trade Taxes on fuel; and
 
8. Following up with Customs on classification of goods.
