- Co-ordinate and develop a sound macro-economic framework for Seychelles.
- Plan and execute budget programs in line with fiscal objectives.
- Regularly review the financial and economic performance of the state and respond efficiently to changes when necessary.
- Ensure consistence and fairness to all economic agents in Seychelles in the formulation of laws and regulations related to fiscal or economic policy.

The Principal Secretaries, who report directly to the Minister, oversee the overall functions of the Ministry of Finance. Each of the divisions are headed by a Director General assisted by Directors who in turn head the different sections.
